The store attracts residents from all over the city who are eager to find the perfect gift or garner ideas from the store's vignettes.  Specifically created to provide decorating ideas for the customer, each vignette showcases the multitude of items in the store by placing them in an actual design setting, featuring accent furniture, decorative accessories, lighting, artwork, textiles, candles, bath and body products, wine/bar items and home office accessories.  And rather than offer an overwhelming stock of each item, The Scarlet Tassel keeps the assortments fresh by consistently bringing in new items.  With unusual product lines, such as the popular Sid Dickens Memory Tiles — hand-crafted and individually designed plaster tiles — customers walk away confident in their purchases and filled with design ideas.

Every staff member in The Scarlet Tassel is qualified to provide customers with advice and solve their decorating challenges.  They are also prepared to go above and beyond to special order items not available in the store.  Projects requiring more extensive consultation, including large furniture purchases, window treatments or even construction are directed to the ASID in-house interior designer, who handles projects in all areas of the home and in any design style, with specialties in space planning, textiles (window treatments, pillows, etc.) and color.

The Accessory Call service, which began in 2006, focuses on helping customers accessorize their homes and add the finishing touches that make a house come to life.  This service seeks to utilize items the customer already owns while incorporating items from the store to complete a project.  During the holiday season, the accessory call business expands to include holiday decorating, with items and ideas for everything from mantles and staircases to front doors and Christmas trees.

The Scarlet Tassel conducts five open house events every year, with spring, summer, fall, anniversary and holiday themes.  During each open house event, free design workshops educate customers on creative and easy ways to decorate a home, featuring topics such as "Accessorizing Your Fireplace Mantle in Style," or "How to Decorate Bookcases."  Although each open house showcases the newest items of the season, the store always offers a full range of non-seasonal decorative accessories.
